THQ Laying The Smackdown?

Hey Josh here giving you wrestling fans some sad news.

So it appears that THQ has decided to pull the plug on the Smackdown Vs Raw franchise. This means that Smackdown Vs Raw 12 is going to be the last installment of the game we will be seeing.

Now personally i haven't played the wrestling games in a good few years but I'm going to be sad to see a well known game disappear from our game shelves. But this raises a few questions on THQ's part.

  • Why get rid of one of their biggest gaming franchises they have?
  • What made them force this?
  • Do they know something we don't about 2012?
So is this a big blow to the gaming community? Will you miss this gaming franchise?

Call Of Duty Monthly Fee's?

Hey Josh here giving you some news on Activision and their latest great idea.

So it appears the heads of Activision aren't happy with being the top selling video game franchises ever. They have decided to include a monthly fee for exclusive content that cannot be sold in stores or supplied on the disks. Activision are not yet set on the idea but are leaning towards charging the same as American company Netflix who charge $7.99 to stream movies on your Xbox or PlayStation. The exclusive content is apparently new levels for COD fans to enjoy, you know kinda like DLC but more expensive.

Personally i dont think people are going to like this idea and rightly so. Why pay a constant price month after month for something that you could buy before for a set price and access at any time. Now i know a lot of hardcore COD fans would pay any amount to get their share of new maps seeing as they pay almost double the price of the average DLC.

I think that Activision should be happy with their unstoppable cash machine and stop trying to push the boundaries with their loyal fans. Also with the release with other games e.g. Battlefield 3 and Ghost Recon. Activision should be trying to offer the best deal to attract more people to their franchise.

Comments Below. Would you be willing to pay a fixed fee to access some maps? or would you rather things stay the way they are now?

Gears Of War 3 Campaign Trailer

Hey guys, Chris here with the new trailer for Gears Of War 3. Now am going to say this straight away. I'm not a huge fan of this popular gaming franchise. Not because it's a bad game, just because I haven't had the chance to fully get into it. I played the first game and loved it. I've just never had a chance to play the second. Well, that's going to change soon because the new trailer for Gears Of War 3 has hit the web and it's brilliant. I watched it and was blown away. The one thing that stood out was the graphics, they are incredible. Looks like am going to have to get Gears 2 then. Well, here's the trailer, enjoy!

Also, I love the Vietnam vibe of the trailer. Just Helicopters, War and Black Sabbath go very well together. So what do you guys think? Are you an avid fan of the franchise? Or are you like me, convinced to catch up with the awesomeness? As always, let us know what you think below.

Thanks.

Chris.

Josh here throwing in my thoughts. Now after reading the Aspho Fields book and getting a feel for Marcus's relationship with his father i get more of a feel for what this game is about and how it is Marcus coming to grips with his past and a father he hasn't seen for at least 10 years. Also for those of you who don't know Marcus's father worked on the hammer of dawn which was originally made to destroy other soldiers before the Locust appeared. This makes him a pretty big deal in the Gears Of War universe seeing as he has a lot of military Intel and he hasn't necessarily had the attention he deserves in the past 2 games. I know the Gears franchise will deliver another tear jerking action packed game and i hope they will go out with the bang they deserve and Carmine finally lives to see the end of the game.

Doctor Who: A Good Man Goes To War Teaser

Hey Josh here giving you the teaser for the mid season finale for Doctor Who. And it looks epic.

So both Chris and myself are big fans of Doctor Who and all of the adventures The Doctor and his companions find themselves thrust into. So when we heard that this season was going for a slightly more American approach and taking a mid season break we couldn't wait. Knowing that we would be treated to 2 big story lines we couldn't wait. Now this season has had a very good storyline and is arguably shaping up to be the greatest season of Doctor Who ever.

Tonight's episode was as epic as ever and offered a lot of twists and questions to be answered in the next episode.

So here's the trailer for the mid season finale.

And as per usual we are left with a ton of questions that I'm sure Moffat will answer in traditional style.

The Hangover: Part II Review

They had to do it! Warner Brothers couldn't help themselves. Let's face it, between the Harry Potter and Batman franchises. They don't have many big box office powerhouses. So when a comedy, costing around thirty million, that was not on many peoples radars grosses just over four hundred and fifty million dollars at the box office. You know there gonna make another. So yeah, The Hangover 2 anyone?

See, I saw the first Hangover. It was a good film, a fun comedy. I laughed many times whilst in the theatre. But then as I was walking out of my cinema, I heard things that sent shivers down my spine. Two men around my age were talking about how amazing the film was. Then one said to the other in reply, "Best Comedy Ever!". I laughed to myself and thought there is no way that a sane man could think that. I thought to myself that the men mustn't of seen Airplane, but then over the months that followed and numerous Facebook pages, groups and statuses dedicated to how seminal this film apparently was. I began to grow sick of the film and the idiots who lauded it with too much praise. It was a good film, but it wasn't even the best comedy of 2009. In my opinion In The Loop was a far superior comedy and narrative. But hey everybody loves Alan! You remember him, the one with the beard!

With the second Hangover we see "The Wolf Pack" head to Thailand for Stu's (Ed Helms) . All the gang are there, Phil (Bradley Cooper), Alan (Zach Galifianakis) and even Doug (Justin Bartha). They have a fireside drink and then yes, it happens again. They wake up in disgusting hotel room. They can't remember what happened the night before. An instead of loosing Doug, they loose Teddy (Mason Lee) the younger brother of Stu's fiancee Lauren (Jamie Chung). Then like the first film. The guys must try and remember the night before.

The big question on every ones mind is. Is it better than the first one? The answer is not really. But is it a bad film. No. It's exactly the same as the first one. It's just a fun film that follows the exact same pattern as the first. But I thought it was kind of funnier, I think it may be because between the first film and the second, I have become an avid fan of the NBC show Community. Ken Jeong plays Senor Chang on the show and I love the character, so I instantly liked Chow more than I did in the first film. I also have a funny bone for Monkeys. Monkeys dressed up, Monkeys doing human things. Monkeys doing anything usually makes me chuckle. So the addition of a monkey to the film played to my childish comedy tastes.

The problem with the movie is that I feel exactly the same as I did with the first one. When it comes to the characters I still find Phil and Stu sort of bland and boring. Alan is the same as the first film and that's fine. He was funny and still is funny. But he's not the legendary character that the general idiot suggests. I prefer Frank Drebin any day. One of the things I didn't like about the film was that it didn't try to do anything different. There were a lot of things that were cloned from the first film. In the first, Stu lost his tooth. In this film, a character loses something else from there body. Original huh? Not really. With the lack of interesting and diverse plot, director Todd Phillips tries to cover the holes with flashy substitutions like car chases, police helicopters and speedboats.

The Hangover: Part II is basically the same as The Hangover. Both are fun, and a solid comedy. But throughout the whole film, I couldn't help but think that it's a huge cash grab from a studio that I like alot. It's fun but forgettable. I watched the first one once and the second will be the same. I won't be suprised if in two years time, we see The Hangover: Part III in either Rio or London for Alan's birthday or wedding. By then they should of run out of things to shove into these films. Hopefully!

6/10

Thanks.

Chris.

Now we have heard speculation that Microsoft have plans to reveal a new Halo game with 343 Industries who now have the rights to the halo franchise but that is still unconfirmed.

Now as for what big game companies and their big announcements I'm sure Nintendo will show off Project Cafe somehow. Also they will be showing some of their new games for the 3DS and the new Wii HD or Wii 2.

Xbox will be showing more Kinnect games that will be made for real gamers who don't want to play sports or have a baby tiger as a pet.

Playstation as I'm sure many of you know will have a lot to do to make up for their little hiccup with the PSN. They will be showing off their new PSP 2 that will replace the PSP go.

I'm not sure what they will do for their presentation but i imagine it will be something like this.

So there you have it. What do you want to see most out of that fine list of games. Comments Below

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Gameplay Trailer!

Hey guys. Chris here bringing you the new COD: MW 3 trailer. This time showing a ton of gameplay and footage. All's I can say is WOW! This trailer blew me away. I'm a huge fan of the Modern Warfare series. Not for the multiplayer and online play. For both game, I buy them for the single player. Both single player campaigns were brilliant for me. It's the ultimate badass simulator! Like being in a two hundred dollar Hollywood blockbuster, being a film fanatic, the series so far has played to my dreams. I literally can't wait for this game. To continue this epic trilogy. Well, enough of me talking. Here's the trailer!

So guys. What do you think of the trailer? Are you a fan? Are you excited?

Thanks.

Chris.

The Dark Knight Rises Bane Revealed

Hey Josh here with some big news. It seems the production team for The Dark Knight Rises have already been busy creating some images for fans to marvel at. It could be part of or the beginning of a viral campaign.

Here you go the first look of Tom Hardy as Bane. I'm very pleased with it but hopefully bane will  wear his traditional mask later on in the film just to please hardcore Bane fans. Hopefully Nolan will be making Bane as intelligent as he is in the comics and try to work his Nolan magic again and create another spectacular film.

Also can anyone else see something to the left of Bane? What do you think it is? A cat eye perhaps?

Comments in the usual place.

Modern Warfare 3 Plot *Spoilers*

Hey guys Josh here giving you even more news on Modern Warfare 3.

Now in an earlier post i questioned what the story would be for the new Modern Warfare. well you can stop bombarding the comments section with you opinions because we have the story here.

* MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED *

* NO SERIOUSLY DON'T LOOK AHEAD IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW WHAT GOES DOWN *

Modern Warfare 3 opens as Modern Warfare 2 closed: The United States under siege by Russian forces, ultranationalist Vladimir Makarov on the loose, Captain John "Soap" MacTavish and Captain John Price wounded and on the run with the Russian informant known as Nikolai.

Fleeing to a safehouse in Dharmasala, India, the three are attacked by Makarov's men. In this firefight players take on the role of Yuri, a loyalist who works for Nikolai. Their safehouse compromised, the group flee the area in a helicopter.

The game then cuts to Manhattan where Russia is launching an attack on the city from a fleet of ships parked in the Hudson River. (It appears the famous U.S.S. Intrepid may be destroyed.) The U.S. calls in Delta Force to repel the attack. You take on the role of Frost, a Delta Force operative under the command of Sandman. Your goal is to take out a jamming tower on top of the New York Stock Exchange to open the area for a U.S. counterattack.

Following the mission, Delta flies out of the city on a Blackhawk, gunning down enemy choppers as they make their way to the harbor where they have to infiltrate and take down a Russian sub which is coordinating the attack.

As the New York missions wrap up the game jumps forward in time half a year, thrusting players into the role of a Russian agent tasked with protecting the president of Russia as he flies to sign a peace treaty with the U.S. The plane is attacked by hijackers mid-air who attempt to kidnap the president and his daughter. The daughter manages to escape. The president of Russia in hand, Makarov vows to prevent a peace treaty by getting the launch codes out of the president and launching an attack against the U.S.

The game then returns us to Price, Soap and Yuri, now in Africa in a search for Makarov. They meet with a local South African arms dealer who tells them about a shipment of chemical weapons that Makarov is trying to buy. The group make their way to Sierra Leone to secure the weapons from African militia.

Next, players take on the role of an SAS operative who is tasked with stopping a delivery of weapons of mass destruction at a London dockyard. A gun battle ensues, and the agents are chased through the London subway. The mission culminates with a series of unmarked trucks exploding in front of the house of Parliament, releasing a deadly chemical agent.

Several other European cities and military bases are hit by similar terrorist attacks backed by Russia, and the death toll rises to the tens of thousands. The series of chemical attacks opens the door for a Russian military blitz strikes across the continent.

Price discovers that the South African arms dealer who tipped them off about the chemical weapons deceived them and travels to Somalia to find the man and interrogate him. Through the arms dealer, Price discovers that Makarov's right hand man, Volk, is hiding out in Paris.

The game's attention next shifts to Hamburg, Germany where players take on the role of a U.S. tank gunner fighting to push back a Russian advance backed by armored divisions.

As Hamburg falls, the game shifts us back to the story of Price and his crew. Now in Paris, players control Delta Force operative Frost who, with the help of the French special forces, leads an assault on Volk's location in the underground catacombs of the city. Next, players take to the sky supporting Frost's ground movements as a gunner in an AC-130.

After capturing and interrogating Volk, Frost learns that Makarov has a meeting in a Prague hotel. Players control Yuri as he and Soap slip into the Russian-controlled city and set-up an ambush for Makarov in a church bell tower. Makarov somehow catches wind of the trap and escapes. Soap, Yuri and Price then have to fight their way out of the city.

Yuri leads the team to one of Makarov's headquarters in the Czech mountains and the group infiltrates the location, looking for clues. They discover that the ultranationlist has the president and is trying to get the codes out of him. Makarov has also discovered the location of the Russian president's daughter. The group move out to Berlin to try and prevent her kidnapping. Playing as Frost, gamers must find the daughter and protect her, while making their way through war-torn Berlin. The daughter, however, is captured and flown away.

Frost next makes his way to the Kremlin where a task force of operatives attack and free the hostages, but Makarov manages to escape again.

The game's final mission occurs in Dubai, where Yuri, Price and Sandman launch an assault on a heavily guarded hotel, eventually finding Makarov and, yes, finally killing him.

It also appears that the game may also include a post-credits level that features the burning of Washington, D. C.

The stage seems set for a passing of the torch: from player-controlled members of Task Force 141 to the new characters from Delta Force.

The Expendables 2 Plot

Hey Josh here giving you some news on the sequel to the action extravaganza known as The Expendables.

Now i loved the first film. I may of missed out on the 80's but i assure you i was still able to appreciate the action that came with that era and all of the stars that made millions kicking ass.The first expendables offered a star studded cast of action stars both old and new and the mix was just right. The storyline wasn't much to marvel at but the gore, explosions and cheesy one liners where amazing.

So here's the official synopsis and Poster for the sequel. (Major Spoilers)

The Expendables are back and this time it's personal! After Tool (Mickey Rourke), the heart and soul of the Expendables, is brutally murdered on a mission, his comrades swear to avenge him. They're not the only ones who want blood. Tool’s beautiful young and wild daughter Fiona embarks on her own revenge mission, complicating matters when she is captured and ransomed by a ruthless dictator plotting to destroy a resistance movement. Now Barney and the Expendables must risk everything to save her and humanity.

Now this seems like a decent storyline for a sequel and it also provides us with a list of questions.

  • Who kills Tool?
  • Why was he on this mission?
  • Will other action stars make an appearance?
  • Will Arnie return. (maybe have segal and his ponytail or Jean Claude Van Damme will be in his team)
  • Bruce Willis is returning so whats his role? (we know hes playing a villain but he didn't strike me as an evil dictator so whats his role)
  • Who will play Tools daughter? (someone hot)
  • Will Stallone be wearing guy liner again?
Who knows. But I'm sure we will get our answers when the film is released. Comments below

Modern Warfare 3 Trailer

Hey Josh here bringing you the first teaser trailer for Modern Warfare 3.

So it appears Activision and Infinity Ward have decided to start a sort of viral campaign by having individual trailers for major countries that will be featured in the game. After the barrage of information they gave out earlyer this week it was kinda obvious we would get a teaser soon and here are four trialers for England, America, Germany and France.

England

America

Germany

France

The trailers give away even less information than the Modern Warfare 2 trailers so its hard to get a feel for the story. The trailers have been given the title. "Find Makerov" so im guessing the story is Makerov is attacking America and England and you switch between both teams as they struggle to take down Makerov at any cost. So its a safwe bet to say this happens right after the events of Modern Warfare 2.  Now i have to say im kind of surprised they didnt focus more on Soap and Price and their struggle fo being fugitives and trying to prove their innocence. Or even a prequel following Ghost and how he became the badass everyone loves. Whatever the story is i know it will be as captivating as the last two.

So what do you guys think? has this got you pumped even more? Comments Below.

Modern Warfare 3 Multiplayer Maps, Guns, Spec Ops Revealed

Hey Josh here giving you some news on the new Modern Warfare game.  Modern Warfare 3

So it appears our friends over at Infinity Ward wanted to give us some information on the new Modern Warfare and boy did they deliver. (hold onto your hats boys and girl they gave us a ton fuck of info)

So lets start with what everyone buys these games for the multiplayer. Well we will be treated to over 20 new maps that will all be available to play right off the bat. Here's a list of all the levels available.

  • Alpha
  • Alps
  • Bootleg
  • Bravo
  • Brooklyn
  • Carbon
  • Coast
  • Dome
  • Exchange
  • Hardhat
  • Interchange
  • Lambeth
  • Meteora
  • Mogadishu
  • Paris
  • Plaza 2
  • Radar
  • Seatown
  • Underground
  • Village
Now its unclear if some will be cut from the final game but here's hoping they all stay in. We all enjoy variety when we kill people.

Spec Ops will also be making a return so you and a friend can have fun being frustrated by those damn bots that always find you behind the counter or car (sorry speaking from personal experience)

So the Spec Ops have 2 modes. Survival, Mission. Both i feel are self explanatory so ill move on to the levels.

Survival:

  • Carbon
  • Dome
  • Radar
  • Seatown
  • Village
Mission:

  • Civilian Rescue
  • Flood The Market
  • Invisible Threat
  • Little Bro's ( I hope to god it isn't another fast food joint )
  • Out Of Africa
  • No Fly Zone
  • Wing Man
We have also been given the honour to have a visual representation of what the game will look like. Including some interesting character designs (maybe classes)

And as if that wasn't enough we got some looks at the weapons in Modern Warfare 3.

So there you go. Expect more news to be out soon with E3 just around the corner you can expect Infinity Ward to be working overtime to push a trailer and possible show game play.

So what do you guys think? will it be as good as black ops? Will it pry you away from your Zombie modes? How will it compare to Ghost Recon and Battlefield 3? Only time will tell.

Assassins Creed Revelations

Hey Josh here giving you an update on the new Assassins Creed game called Assassins Creed Revelations.

It appears Ubisoft have decided to send Ezio to Constantinople. Yeah it appears rather than going with a new character and setting it in a new timeline they are going to stick with the fan favourite. But this raises a lot of questions that fans will want answering.

  • Why is he there?
  • Will Desmond be playable?
  • What will the story be?
  • Why did they not choose a new ancestor?
We have also been given our first look at Assassins Creed Revelations.

So what do you guys think? will this be on your pre order list?

Ubisoft To Make Thier Own Film Studio

Hey Josh here just giving you some interesting info that you may find interesting.

Now I'm sure by now almost everyone has played a video game and said to a friend "this would be an epic film". Well it looks like ubisoft are taking the direct route and are not using big studio's like Fox or going desperate and crawling to Uwe Boll to make their movies. They have decided to make their own movies of their video games. Now i know your thinking they sold the rights to Price Of Persia to Disney and have let them do as they please which id not have a problem with. But with their own studio they can follow the games 100% without having to please an investor like Fox or Disney.

Now for those of you who aren't familiar with some of Ubisofts big games here's a list. (The films marked in Red have already been made)

  • Assassins Creed
  • Splinter Cell
  • Prince Of Persia
  • Driver
  • Ghost Recon
  • Rainbow Six
  • Far Cry
  • Call Of Juarez
  • Rayman
  • Beyond Good And Evil
Now even though many of these have been made theres nothing stopping Ubisoft from making T.V shows or even remakes of the franchises.

So what do you think? should more video game companies create the films and T.V spin offs of their own products. Imagine Red Dead Redemption as a movie or a Dead Space movie. This could be the start of something beautiful people. comments below.
